There is a lot to this property. Bear with us here as we acquaint you with the various characteristics, virtues and, yes, even the warts. We are very interested in finding the fit between buyer, and property. Here’s our effort at profiling the “Types” that would love this property. These types are not listed in any sort of priority, such as who would be most interested to least.
Retreat Center / Nature Lover / Sanctuary Seeker / Income generating property / Real Estate Investor / End of the Worlder / Map of property
Let’s start with –
Geographic Position: The property is removed without being isolated or overly remote. There are full community services: water, electric, roads, Internet and so on there. But you are 25 minutes from San Isidro, which is reputed to be Costa Rica’s largest “city”. Really it is a town by developed-world standards, but relative to Costa Rica, it is the largest city in southern Costa Rica. There is a hospital and numerous private clinics for all manner of medical procedures as well as dentistry. Automotive services, department stores, groceries, shoes, vape stores, etc… Turn the other way and head towards the coast. You are 25 minutes to Dominical, world famous for its surfing and laid-back lifestyle. There are some very nice restaurants minutes from this property and in good supply in both of the towns mentioned.
Retreat / Education Center: The seller of this property originally bought the property with an Esalen type of retreat center in mind – a “Communiversity”. He would love to see it go to a like minded buyer. There is room to develop the concept and it is very nicely situated in an area of Costa Rica that is all about such concepts.
The main house is roughly 3,500 square feet, so it can be developed to serve as a headquarters or housing for the workers, or whatever. There is abundant water on the land, under it, and running alongside it.
Nature lover: The abundant wildlife, both flora and fauna, lends itself to this Type. Not only the geographic location but the features of the property are for the nature loving Type. There is lots of land here. There is a river and a pond and an amazing geological formation that creates a wall on the east side, or back of the property. There is primary jungle on the wall. The wildlife is abundant here. The diversity of bird-life is high even when measured on a global scale.
Sanctuary Seeker: Many of those who move to Costa Rica are looking to quiet life down. This property is for this Type. Whereas life pre-Costa Rica may have been in a developed-world country, with a focus on being able to have more time to connect with others via the Internet, take care of business, get things done… life on this property could result in a 180° turnabout. You may find that the necessary “connect” actions of your previous life get in the way of what you now want to do.
Looking for an Income Generating Property:
The house is perfectly set up for use as an AirBnB type of rental. It just needs finishing.
There is room to build additional rental abodes on the property. These too could be rented out long or short term. The area has a strong demand on rentals.
This is a desirable rental property. Views are of waterfalls (during rainy season), mountain, valley and ocean views. Located in the back of a gated road in a rain forest along the mountainside. This property is secluded and has only one access. A year ’round creek runs along the front of the property.
Farming is an option as well. The geological orientation of the property has benefitted it with black dirt soil. The area all around this property is known for its organic producing farms.
Real Estate Investor
“Buy in the path of development” – (a quote heard from an extremely wealthy fellow as he was viewing property in Dominical.) We don’t know what the future holds. The world and its economics are in a dramatic state of flux. Adding this tangible asset to one’s portfolio has potential for good growth. As for counsel on guessing the future, we don’t have a crystal ball, but, since earth is the only planet option we’ve got at the moment, many seem to view Costa Rica as a refuge from the world’s frantic antics. It is easy to surmise that this perspective will only increase in the coming years. Profound nature, lots of water on the property, fairly secure, and room to move about.
Additionally, there is a growing interest in wellness, in all its many facets. Besides being more diligent regarding diet & exercise, the word mindfulness embodies the emotional, social and spiritual aspects of being human. The area where Nature’s Bounty is located is a growing wellness mecca. There are numerous disciplines in the area, from Menonite to vegan, to pay-to-work organic farm programs and Qui Gong. All of which inures to the added benefit of the Tinamaste farmers market. It is, in the opinion of this real estate, blogger Guy, the best in Costa Rica’s southern zone.
When making an educated guess about where the path of development is going, nature and wellness are good indicators.
End of the Worlders
There is a veritable plethora of books, blogs, news items etc… sounding the call of mankind not living sustainably on this earth and that there is an imminent cataclysm coming. Some are finding removed corners of the planet where they can move their families or groups. For such minded one, this property fits the bill. There is water and abundant sun here with lots of very fertile, dark soil.
The property lends itself to going off the grid. There is abundant sunshine, so solar could be installed. There is easily enough land to raise food to sustain a small community. There is lots of water on the property. We have not studied the potential of hydro generated electricity but this is a possibility as well.
